Welcome to the Inclusive Arts
Community Pottery Studio
Inclusive Arts was established in 2018 in Downtown Salmon Arm. Over the years we have offered many services, including retail, crafts, subscription boxes, art clubs, and, of course, our first love, pottery! Although we have enjoyed all of these ventures, we have decided the best direction to take the studio in, to support our community best, is by rebranding as a COMMUNITY POTTERY STUDIO, focusing on pottery only, and opening our doors to other artists and makers wishing to explore the amazing world of clay with us. With this rebranding come many changes to our day-to-day operation, including our operating hours. We have decided to shift our focus to evenings rather than daytime to create better studio access for members wishing to utilize the studio.
What will these changes look like?
1. We will be discontinuing sales on all retail items unrelated to pottery (we are currently liquidating all stock so come in for great deals).
2. We will be renovating our space to accommodate more work tables, storage areas and our pottery wheels.
3. We will shift from daytime open hours to afternoon/evening open hours.
4. Our focus will be on Pottery Classes, Open Studio Access for Members and a smaller "Paint Your Own Pottery" area where the public can still come in and paint molded ceramic figures.
How will Memberships work?
We will have 2 types of memberships available:
1. Handbuilder/Sculptor memberships.
2. Full Studio Access: Pottery Wheel & Handbuilding Access.
To qualify for a membership you must have taken an Introduction to either Handbuilding or Pottery Wheel series through our studio, which will teach you the basic fundamentals and techniques necessary to get you on the right path. You will also learn how to use our studio equipment, tools, glazes and the protocols for accessing the studio, such as safety, clean up, schedule etc. If you are an experienced potter please come in to discuss your experience with staff, as well as bring photos of your work, to see if you qualify for membership without taking our introductory series. Only very experienced potters will qualify.
We ask for your patience and understanding as we transition to this new model. There will definitely be kinks to work out, but we hope to have things flowing beautifully in the coming weeks.
